Artificial turf samples and planning tools for homeowner questions

Questions, answered

Artificial turf FAQs for DFW yards.

Installation, pricing, infill, pets, kids, warranty, insurance, and service-area answers from DFW Turf Pros.

Installation & Process

How does the install process work?+

DFW Turf Pros starts with a consultation, yard measurement, and walkthrough of how you want to use the space. From there, Marc reviews access, drainage, edging, turf type, infill, and any special details before the final quote and install plan are confirmed.

What happens underneath the turf?+

Most installs include removal of the existing surface, excavation, base material, compaction, drainage planning, turf placement, infill, brushing, and a final walkthrough. Typical installs remove about 3-4 inches, but the exact prep depends on the yard.

Do you handle uneven ground or drainage issues?+

Standard install prep includes normal grading and base work. Yards with unusual slope, drainage problems, poor access, roots, concrete, or other site conditions are reviewed during the consultation because they can change the scope.

How long does installation take?+

Timing depends on square footage, access, weather, demolition needs, and specialty details like putting greens or pet drainage. Marc will review the expected schedule before work begins.

Pricing & Estimates

Is the calculator a final quote?+

No. The calculator is a planning estimate. The final quote is based on actual measurements, access, drainage, demolition, edging, turf choice, infill choice, and any specialty work.

What affects artificial turf pricing?+

The biggest factors are project size, turf type, infill, base prep, drainage, access, edge details, removal needs, and whether the job includes a putting green, pet-heavy area, or other custom features.

Do larger projects receive a volume discount?+

The calculator models a volume discount above 2,000 square feet so homeowners can understand how larger projects may price out. The final quote confirms the actual project scope and pricing.

Do putting greens use the same calculator?+

Use the calculator as a starting point only. Putting greens and specialty sports installs usually need an on-site estimate because layout, cups, contours, fringe, lighting, and other upgrades can change the scope.

Is financing available?+

DFW Turf Pros advertises 0% APR financing availability through third-party financing for qualified customers. Terms, approval, and availability are handled by the financing provider.

Turf Options

What types of turf projects do you install?+

DFW Turf Pros installs landscape turf, pet turf, kid-friendly play areas, backyard putting greens, and sports or agility turf for residential properties across DFW and North Texas.

Can turf work for dogs?+

Yes, when the system is planned around drainage, cleanup, and odor-control infill. Pet turf still needs rinsing and routine care, especially in high-use dog areas.

Can kids play on artificial turf?+

Yes. DFW Turf Pros designs family play areas for stable footing, soft everyday use, clean edges, and the way the space will actually be used. Product-specific details can be reviewed during the consultation.

Are putting greens priced or built differently?+

Yes. Putting greens involve different design decisions than standard landscape turf, including shape, cups, roll, fringe, contours, and optional features. They should be reviewed as a custom design.

Infill, Heat & Odor

Why does infill matter?+

Infill helps support the turf blades, affects feel and bounce, adds weight to the system, and can support cooling or pet-zone odor control depending on the product selected.

Does artificial turf get hot in Texas?+

Artificial turf can get hot in direct sun, especially during North Texas summers. Turf selection, infill choice, shade, rinsing, and yard layout all affect comfort, but no turf system should be treated as heat-proof.

What is T-Cool?+

T-Cool is a premium cooling-focused infill for sunny DFW yards where barefoot comfort and surface feel matter. Cooling performance depends on weather, sun exposure, moisture, turf profile, and maintenance.

Will pet turf be odor-free?+

No responsible installer should promise odor-free pet turf. Good drainage, the right infill, regular rinsing, and cleanup routines can help manage odor, but pet areas still require maintenance.

Does antimicrobial infill mean the yard is sanitized?+

No. Antimicrobial or coated-infill language should be treated as product-protection positioning, not a public-health claim. Turf still needs proper drainage, cleaning, and normal maintenance.

Is Silica the recommended default?+

Silica is a basic baseline for low-use decorative turf. It is usually not the preferred choice for family, pet-heavy, or heat-exposed DFW yards where comfort, odor control, or cooling are bigger priorities.

Warranty, Insurance & Care

What warranty does DFW Turf Pros offer?+

DFW Turf Pros presents a 25-year turf warranty on qualifying products and a separate 5-year labor warranty. Warranty coverage depends on the product, installation, care, and written warranty terms.

Is there a lifetime install warranty?+

No. DFW Turf Pros uses a 5-year labor warranty, not lifetime install warranty language.

Is DFW Turf Pros insured?+

Yes. DFW Turf Pros carries the $1M insured trust cue and reviews project details before installation begins.

What maintenance does turf need?+

Most yards need routine debris removal, brushing as needed, rinsing for pets, and occasional attention to high-traffic areas. DFW Turf Pros includes one annual maintenance visit for brushing, fluffing, and keeping the turf finish clean.

Will turf eliminate all yard work?+

Turf reduces mowing, watering, mud, and many natural-lawn chores, but it is not maintenance-free. Leaves, pets, drainage, heavy use, and surrounding landscaping still need attention.

Service Areas

Where does DFW Turf Pros install?+

DFW Turf Pros serves residential artificial turf customers across DFW and North Texas, including Dallas, McKinney, Plano, Frisco, Prosper, Celina, Southlake, Fort Worth, and nearby communities listed on the service-area pages.

Do city pages mean you have a city-specific office?+

No. City pages describe service coverage. They do not mean DFW Turf Pros has a separate office, address, or city-specific review profile in every listed city.

Who will review my project?+

DFW Turf Pros is a local, McKinney-based company. Marc personally reviews projects so homeowners get a clear plan, not a generic quote with missing assumptions.
